HULKS (WOOLWICH)

A RETURN of the Name, Age, Date of Reception, and Death of each prisoner who has died on board the Unite, Wye, Justilia, and Warrior Hulks, at Woolwich, from the 1st day of January 1844 inclusive, to the present time (report dated 12th February 1847), with the date and verdict of the Coroner's Inquest in each case.

A RETURN of the Place, as far as practicable, where each Corpse has been buried; distinguishing those claimed by their relatives or friends from those sent to any and what Hospital or School of Anatomy for dissection; the date of their transmission, the name of the person to whom transmitted, by whose order so sent, and whether any and what sum has been paid or charged thereon, and by who received.

The following information has been transcribed from a booklet, owned by the Webmaster, it has been transcribed in full by me, verbatim.  I have proof read several times, but as always I would be happy to accept any reasonable requests to re-check my transcribing. Those I have double named in red, indicates that the spelling of the surname was different on each section of the booklet, and which I considered was more than likely to be the same person.

You may be interested to know that I did a random search of fifty names on the Free BMD website, and those I found, all showed the place of death as Greenwich, so if any researchers are looking for their ancestors on the Free BMD website and ruled out Greenwich as a location of death, it might be worth having another look!
